The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law.

The vision of Troop 583 is to reinforce the mission of the Boy Scouts of America by offering the youth of Santa Clarita a balanced scouting program run by Boy Scouts and mentored by involved and committed adult leaders.

Troop 583 is unique in that our home is Valley Trails Ranch, a fully equipped camp in Castaic, CA.  We meet twice a month for Troop meetings around the campfire and twice a month for Patrol Meetings

Our new Chartering Organization is the SCV-Newhall Optimists Club. The Optimists International’s mission is to foster an optimistic way of life, through a network of Optimists, dedicated to the full development of their potential in order to provide ever-expanding service to youth, the community and the world.
