A one day fishing license is about $14.<br />

<p>Several scouts and parents have inquired about the shooting camp I put on every summer. I&#8217;ve attached the flyer for more information. This is NOT a Boy Scout camp, however, all shooting badges, and usually a couple more are offered. I will be sending this flyer out to the council in a couple weeks. If you&#8217;re interested in attending, please email me as soon as possible. I only take 35 boys and/or girls for this camp.</p>

It&#8217;s that time of year again&#8230;time for our:</p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="color: #ff0000;">2<strong>ND ANNUAL RECYCLING FUNDRAISER</strong></span>!</span></p>

<p>This fundraiser (and the garage sale fundraiser) helps the troop offset some of it&#8217;s operating expenses, and helps us purchase equipment for the troop. Your efforts help us to keep our registration dues lower than the average annual dues for troops in our district.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Our Our first food drop off for Scouting for Food will be at the Troop meeting 11/15 . Mr. Backley will be there to pick up any food you&#8217;ve collected.</p>
<p>Our Scouting for Food community service is fast<br />
approaching. We are hopeful that every member of every<br />
patrol will participate in this very important community<br />
service. All of the items collected will go to the Santa<br />
Clarita Food Pantry. The Pantry told us recently that they<br />
are very short of food and other nonperishable items, so we<br />
really need to help out.</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s the breakdown:</p>
<p>1.Each patrol is expected to contact their local grocery<br />
store and ask for the opportunity to solicit<br />
food/nonperishable items. Plan on 1 day for 4 to 6 hours.</p>
<p>2. Once you have a date booked with the grocery store,<br />
please let me know so I can fill out a tour permit.</p>
<p>3. Scouts should arrive at the store on the selected<br />
date/shift in their full Class A uniforms. We also must have<br />
at least two adults present while they solicit donations.</p>
<p>4. I have attached the handout that should be given to<br />
shoppers as they enter the store. Please print enough flyers<br />
so that you have plenty. 200-300 flyers is a good amount for<br />
a 6 hours shift on a weekend day. That&#8217;s about 30 to 50<br />
sheets of paper.</p>
<p>5. Glen Backley has agreed to pick up the collections at<br />
two different troop meetings, and bring the collection to<br />
the food pantry. The dates will be:</p>

<p style="text-align: left;"><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Here’s how it works:</span></strong></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">
<p style="text-align: left;">The drive will begin on February 1<sup>st</sup> and end on April 5<sup>th</sup>.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">We <strong>challenge</strong> each patrol to save as many soda cans and plastic drink bottles</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">(please, no other recyclables) as they possibly can.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">
<p style="text-align: left;">Patrols will bring their recyclables to the April 5<sup>th</sup> troop meeting where they will be weighed.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">The total weight will be divided by the number of Scouts in the patrol to determine the average weight per Scout.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">The patrol with the most weight per Scout <strong>WINS&#8230;</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">An all expense paid <strong>ICE CREAM PARTY</strong> at their next patrol meeting!</p>

<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>So, don’t delay…recycle for the troop today!</strong><strong> </strong></p>

<p style="text-align: left;">Remember to ask your family, friends, and neighbors to help out. Make a flyer asking them to save their cans and bottles. Try setting up weekly pickups to collect their recyclables too! If we all pitch in, we can do this. We <strong>CAN</strong> have a new trailer by the time we go to camp this summer!</p>
